What is a Holistic Approach?

A holistic approach considers the entire mind, body and spirit as components to health and well-being.

What is integrative or complementary medicine?

At the Veterinary Wellness Center, we incorporate traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment with alternative, non-traditional practices. Our 'holistic approach' addresses the total picture of your pet's health. By integrating multiple treatment options with complimentary wellness practices, we can provide your pet with an overall greater condition of health.

What kind of medicinal practices does a Holistic Approach use?

A holistic approach utilizes various veterinary practices to address your pet's health. These practices include:

  • Acupuncture

  •  Herbal supplements

  • Nutritional therapies

  • Laser treatment

  • Acupuncture

  • Reiki

  • Essential oil therapy

How is traditional Chinese medicine part of a holistic approach?

Within every lifeforce is 'qi' (pronounced chi). Health and wellness within a living being is achieved when qi is perfectly balanced. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based on the premise that disease is a state of imbalance. The key to TCM is determining what aspect of a pet's health is out of balance. By identifying a “pattern” of disharmony, we can offer herbs and practices that actively work to 'balance' a pet's qi.

Traditional Chinese Medicine evaluates all parts of the body, mind, and soul to determine what is out of balance. This approach incorporates important health factors that traditional Western medicine might not address.
